About the Role:
Performs a full range of laboratory services under the general supervision of the Supervisor, Assistant Director, Director of Laboratory, and Lab Administrator.
Responsibilities:
- Performs clinical testing in compliance with Federal, NYSDOH, CAP, and TJC standards.
- Conducts Complete Blood Counts, Coagulation Profiles, Urinalysis, and other manual/automated tests.
- Follows Quality Control procedures and performs Preventive Maintenance.
- Uses lab information systems for orders, results, and documentation.
- Performs phlebotomy and maintains specimen integrity.
- Provides technical guidance and assists in training personnel.
- Ensures lab safety, participates in education programs, and maintains patient confidentiality.
- Orders supplies, troubleshoots equipment, and participates in non-routine testing and research.
- Follows guidelines for quality assurance, reports critical values, and documents activities accordingly.
Qualifications:
Valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist issued by the NYSED. In addition to meeting the qualification requirement of Assignment Level II, appointment to Level III requires one year of full-time paid experience as a technologist in a clinical laboratory or blood bank.
